All About Vinegar
If you had to get rid of every household-cleaning product you owned and could only use one eco-friendly substance to clean with, vinegar would be the one to choose. It is an extremely versatile substance. In addition to its usefulness in cooking, it can be used in home medical treatments, gardening, and household cleaning.
Vinegar is a liquid that results from fermentation. It has been around for more than 1,000 years. The word is derived from the French term “vin aigre,” which literally translates into “sour wine.” There are many types of vinegar, including white, apple cider, balsamic, and rice. The flavors depend on the ingredients used in the fermentation process.
Vinegar is a form of acetic acid, which makes it an excellent cleaning product, particularly for glass. Over the years, people began using it for virtually all of their cleaning needs. The only difference is the amount of water added to the substance to clean certain specific surfaces. For the cleaning purposes in this book, the term always denotes distilled white vinegar. Subsequently, in all of the applications described, the least expensive form of distilled white vinegar will work.
